Changing DNS on the Frontier Router — to enable parental control

Changing DNS on the Frontier router (NVG468MQ or similar versions) is very simple. In the following steps, we will show you how to change DNS in there to enable the free parental control filters provided by CleanBrowsing:

  • 1. First, go to http://192.168.254.254/cgi-bin/connconfig.ha . If you router is at a different IP Address, switch 192.168.254.254 for the router IP address.
  • 2. In that page, you will see “Primary DNS Address” and “Secondary DNS Address”. Similar to:

  • 3. Change the Primary DNS Address to 185.228.168.168 and the Secondary DNS Address to 185.228.169.168. Click “Apply”.
  • 4. That’s it. It may take a few minutes for your computer DHCP Lease to get the new DNS, but you should be good to go. If you disable your Wifi and re-enable, it will force it right away. To test, try to visit badexample.com and you should be blocked.
